VT Schedule

Doesn't look to me like clemson is very afraid of the SEC, they have a much tougher out of conference than AU....Not denying the SEC as the dominant conference, just pointing that out...

...in scheduling Bama to go along with S. Carolina, Clemson did more than any other ACC team in scheduling some good ol SEC competition. As far as the ACC goes, I pull for Clemson to win it every year, cuz that's the only ACC team I can stand to watch.

Pretty sure that Miami scheduled Florida. USC is a rivalry game for CU obviously or that game probably wouldn't be scheduled. The last time I checked,the Gators were good ol' SEC competition.

As I stated earlier, Clemson, FSU, Miami, NCST and GT all have in state rivalry games with the SEC..but besides those games Clemson scheduled Bama, Duke scheduled Vandy, and GT scheduled MSU. If VT, UVA, Wake or any of the others want to ever be perceived as anything more than a champ of a weaker sister league, they'll have to step up and play the best in their region to prove they aren't paper tigers...and they don't have to travel far to find the SEC.

Well VT did play (or was present) at LSU last season but if you remember when LSU visited VT they came away with a 20 pt loss. VT has also tried to schedule other SEC teams and for whatever reason they didn't work out. I know for a fact that VT fans would love to play an SEC school every year win or lose. It would be much better than having a directional Michigan or KY on the season ticket package. Who wants to pay 40 bucks a pop to see that?

the SEC scheduling is really tough, its hard to fit in games when the schedules are soo far booked.

Bama likes to play ACC schools, esp in Atlanta.

Personally--we all know that the SEC is the best overall conference in America right now. However, all it takes is a few years of a swing in recruiting to change that type of thing. You're starting to see teams like Miami, FSU, Clemson, and a few other ACC teams starting to gather steam, and will eventually start getting part of the share of kids that LSU, Bama, Auburn, UGA, and UF have been getting from the south exclusively for the past 8 years or so--meaning they've been getting the cream of the crop. Not saying it will happen, but if recruiting picks up at the rate it has been for some ACC schools, the gap between the two conferences won't be so big.

Also, it doesn't matter who you play. Go out and win the games that are put in front of you in as dominant a fashion as you can. The only complaint I have is teams scheduling the 1-AA teams (as Miami did, dropping North Texas for Charleston Southern), because that's one less chance to get to 6-7 wins needed for a bowl bid and more money for the program. It's stupid, and if college football has become a business as we've all had shoved down our throats, it's counter-intuitive to do schedule those schools.

The truth remains this--if VT were to go undefeated, and an SEC school were to go undefeated, they'd be on almost level ground in terms of an argument to go play in the BCS Title Game, mainly due to both being in BCS conferences. Not saying it should be that way, but that's the way it is.

Miami and UF is obviously an in-state rivalry, but they do not play every year like FSU and UF. Also FSU scheduled Bama last year and won. I'm pretty sure they will play again in the near future, but I don't know if it will be at another neutral site or not.

Looks like the ACC mentality has rubbed off more on the Canes than FSU then..
